Hiking on Saturday (August 7)

All the kids enjoyed using this big tent & air mattresses as a bouncy playground.

Our camping group
So much fun = very sleepy kids! On our drive home on Sunday, August 8.
We went camping at Whitewater State Park from Friday, August 6-Sunday, August 8. Our friends, The Johnson's, reserved 4 camping sites last year & it worked out great having two families per site. There were about 15 adults & 9 kids. It was Nolan's first time camping & our first family tent event as a family foursome. The kids did really great! They slept through the night & Nolan even took a nap in the tent on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't completely cooperate, but we still had a good time. We went hiking Saturday morning & got completely drenched on our hike back to the campground. We took shelter at the swimming beach restroom/changing room building until the lightning stopped & rain slowed to a drizzle. We ate lunch in our tents that day & waited for the rain to stop, which it did, & it ended up being a great rest of the day. The kids played at the beach in the afternoon building & stomping on sandcastles. The adults enjoyed our time in the evenings around the campfire. The rain & thunder came again during the night (early Sunday morning), but had stopped by the time we had to pack everything up (all wet of course). Camping is always a lot of work, but Mikayla loves sleeping in the tent & that makes it all worth it! Maybe our next camping adventure will be in the backyard. No packing required.
