Jaundice baby

Although Nolan was born healthy, it's very common for newborns to become jaundice (yellowing skin). We had a check up the following Tuesday & because of the slightly high levels of bilirubin in his blood, he had to lay on photo therapy lights in our home for 3 days, 24/7. He could only come off for nursing & diaper changes. We had a nurse come to our home to check his weight & blood. By Friday he was gaining weight & the bilirubin levels were decreasing, so he was able to quit the lights....yeah!! Luckily for us, his levels weren't any higher. If they had been any higher in the beginning, he would've had to stay in the hospital under lights instead of in our home. This picture is of him on the lights. The cover on the lights is similar to a baby sleep sack. You put him in with only a diaper on, put his arms through the arm holes & velcro it shut. I had to take his temperature before each feeding & help regulate his temp. with blankets.
